VERSE OF THE WEEK
The saying is trustworthy, and I want you to insist on these things, so that those who have believed in God may be careful to devote themselves to good works. These things are excellent and profitable for people. – Titus 3:8
Ready, Set, Go
Good works are the consequence of one’s salvation, not the source of it. A sincere and grateful faith pours out of a person through the good works that are done. As James 2:26 says, “Faith apart from works is dead.” According to the Westminster Confession of Faith, good works provide you with these benefits: deepen your gratitude to God for the gift of His Son; bolster your assurance of faith; edify and encourage other believers to do them; show your adoration of the Savior; silence critics on the value of biblical Christianity; and open glorification of God by the display of His work of love in your life. Whether you plan ahead to do good works this year or not, be sensitive to the Lord’s leading and ready to obey when He prompts you to do them.
